Quilt & Stripes
I love this project where designer Line Sander has used remnants from the production of Nørgaard på Strøget's classic striped T-shirts for a collection of wonderful quilts. The quilts are handmade by the socio-economic sewing workshop Place de Bleu, and the project combines beautiful design, sustainable production, social responsability & old sewing traditions.
More about the project. Photos from Line Sander's blog Little Universes.

Hokus Pokus Alfons Åberg
While my mom was here we went to the cinema to see the Alfons Åberg movie with the girls. And we liked it - all of us. I truly love the old Alfons Åberg animations with the wonderful voice of Thomas Winding in Danish from my own childhood, and so does Frida Viola, so I was a little anxious to be dissapointed. But I loved it. I love the small updates with the dad's smartphone, his 85% dark chocolate, the fact that Alfons is a little older, but still a dreaming, fantasizing kid with his own wishes and desires. I love the style of the animation - warm & filled with little daily life details and objects, yet still also filled with magic, even for grown ups (despite what some reviewers write). The girls loved all the cute dogs, the magician, the switching between magic and reality, and all the very-very exciting moments where the kids do things not at all approved by the adults.
We didn't like all the noisy trailers before the movie, though...
If you didn't see it already (I know we are late), then hurry up and go see it - it's perfect for the younger kids.

days off
my mom has been here the last days and we have taken some days off with the girls. we started a little early this year and have been baking the first shrovetide buns. these ones - with whole grain flour, apple compote & marzipan. they always turn out good.
today my mom and i bought lots of wool in nice colours for sweaters for the girls. My mom, her sister and my grandmom are skilled knitters - i feel so lucky.
these days were good for all of us.

inside the dollhouse
last summer we found a beautiful hand crafted doll cabinet at a roadside flea in Sweden. Frida Viola wanted it badly, but we didn't buy it for her. Later the same afternoon we regretted and returned to the flea. I was reading for the girls in the car, and somehow A succeded in picking up the rather big doll cabinet and managed to get it into the car without Frida Viola ever noticed it. Hence we had the perfect Christmas gift for her, we just added some new paint and wallpaper.
I love the way she creates her own rules in this miniature world - the doll kids have cake in the sofa and watch tv all day long.

Hesselholdt & Mejlvang
today I was lucky to have a peek of the artist group Hesselholdt & Mejlvang's work for their upcoming exhibitions in their beautiful temporary studio at the Danish Art Workshops.
I saw draped textiles, fabric guirlandes, ceramic works and sketches.
More about Hesselholdt & Mejlvang's work. Photos above from the same place.
