My Home Today

1. New favorites: Shoes from Soft Gallery
2. Tomorrow December 1 - the fine-fine Advent calendar is made by Nathalie Lété - ohh, I am looking just as much forward as Frida Viola to open the little doors...
3. Little Christmas book from my own childhood - I remember the pictures in every detail
4. Finally 24 little gifts for Frida Viola's Advent calendar are wrapped and sorted - phew...

This year Frida Viola's calendar will be shared with all of you here at the blog with one photo each day of December - hopefully to spread a little bit of December joy, but maybe also to serve as inspiration for those of you who are last minute with the little gifts :) (as I was last year!)

Jaime Rugh

Look what I received yesterday. The most beautiful little package with treasures from Jaime Rugh. You might know Jaime from her blog Found While Walking about nature, family, everyday projects and more art related projects - and of course about walking in the nature with her two kids finding little treasures.

Jaime Rugh is an artist working with textiles, collages, weavings and more. She made me the beautiful little weaving in the photos above. I think the idea is to leave the weaving hanging in a tree as a treasure others will find. But I think I will keep it for the baby to come to hang over the cot and as a nice little thing to touch and hug.

Jaime also did the beautiful collages below. Actually the collages are the way I learned about Jaime's work because they captured me with their beautiful colours and simple, naive and yet very composed style.

Jaime's collages and other works are available in her shop.
And Jaime is also a contributer at Momfilter.

Thank you Jaime for sharing these treasures!

Advent

This weekend my sister and her family + my mom came over to our annual "Christmas decoration weekend". My mom learned us felting - I have never tried it before but it was really nice to work with the wool and the kids liked it as well. The little white balls will hopefully end up as little wollen snowmen when Frida Viola and I have decorated them.

Frida Viola did a large production of the little Christmas trees with watercolour. I like them just as that and will avoid adding glitter or sequins.

Bonjour Tristesse...

November is so grey. We don't have Thanksgiving. I am longing for December with all its lights, home-baked goods, childishness (also allowed for grown-ups!), dinners with friends, family, excesses, gifts...

Magical

I have always thought there is something magical about Bjørn Wiinblad's universe. The puzzle is from the thrift store and has far too many pieces for Frida Viola - maybe in a couple of years we can do it together.

Yesterday, we went to see the exhibition at Davids Samling. I have been wanting to go there ever since we moved to Copenhagen eight years ago and now we finally did it. There is certainly also something magical about this museum - such a wonderful collection. Frida Viola got tired though, and had to lay down a little bit in the cloakroom before leaving.

Crème de la Crème à la Edgar pop up shop.

Little changes...

A finished the new old bed for Frida Viola. She has been sleeping in it for a couple of days now - and she likes it. I like the thought that my dad also slept in that bed when he was a little boy.

The little blue chair is a classical Danish institution chair - a Hukit chair designed by Kaj Høffner Larsen in 1967. I love the design of it and have been searching for one ever since I was pregnant with Frida Viola.
The other day when she and I were walking in our neighbourhood this blue one simply stood there with a note: "Please take the chair for free!" I rang the doorbell and a very nice lady answered that she was just happy that the chair could have a new life with new little people - her own kids were grown up. So sweet!

Birds

I know it's still a while before Christmas but I have already started to make these little ones for the tree. They are related to the ones I made last year and also with the little eggs for Easter.

I love making them!

Lots of nice things for Christmas at crème de la crème à la Edgar.

Soft Rose

I made these little very easy pants for Frida Viola yesterday. I copied her favorite pants from lili and the funky boys and used some fabric found in the local thrift store - soft rose with silver glitter - much more girly than I usually like, but Frida Viola seems quite satisfied.

The photos below are some old ones A had for our wedding. They are from his birth, or actually from when his mom and dad brought him home from the hospital. I can't believe there is actually a newborn baby in that white box... Look at the nonchalant way his dad is carrying it in the second photo - that would never happen today! They are standing in front of their very new-build house. It turned out - when the house was finished - that it had been build so quickly that everything had been mirrored according to the layout. That certainly was the seventies!

Weekend With Mom

This weekend my mom came to visit us. Frida Viola loves her. They have been playing all weekend, even sleeping together. We have been outside in the beautiful weather, talking and cooking. A has been painting the new (old) bed for Frida Viola, and my mom and I have been doing some sewing projects. I love weekends like these.

The Norway cup, the little socks and the rag rug are all finds from the flea market and the thrift store in Sweden. The socks are perfect for Frida Viola right now.

Goodbye old house...

Goodmorning. We are back in Copenhagen. Old house in Sweden is cleaned and closed for the winter. I always get a little sad when we leave the house. It looks so lonely and it used to be so filled with life - kids, grown ups, livestock, pets, housekeepers, servants - playing, working and living. And now it is left for the mice and the cold weather. But as A says: The house has been there for over a 100 years so it will certainly also stand there next spring...

Take a look at Fnubbu's website - so much nice to look at.

For the piles...

I guess all of you know that I love old textiles - bed linens, tablecloths, tea towels... And I always bring a pile with me home after a visit in Sweden. The Swedish flea markets and thrift stores are filled with beautiful, old and well-kept textiles - for example the damask tea towels in picture 3. I found 5 of these, all without spots and in a very thick and good quality with embroidered monograms.

My favorite thrift store in Sweden is Erikshjälpen. They have stores all over Sweden - and a very good one near our house. They also have a blog on second hand.
