Mother by Yokoo Gibraan
I am in love with the whole set-up of Yokoo Gibraan's fantastic "little prairie" like label Mother. Look at these fantastic photos and the beautiful styling. Mother is a mix of handmade items and vintage dresses. I love the quilted Le Pontero poncho and the beautiful Farmer's Jumper.
Found via frankie magazine.

Quiet days
Our day in photos. Started with sun in the morning, changed into quiet summer rain and ended with beautiful mist over the meadow. We don't do much these days - playing outside the house, painting a garden table, sewing curtains, stopping at roadside flea markets, going to the local patisserie, cooking and reading stories.
We have been here for over 2 weeks now - but I'm still not longing for the city.

Chasing mosquitoes
Summer came for real up here last week - and so did the mosquitoes. Many of them.
These little ladies are chasing mosquitoes - don't know how effective it was, but it was fun and they did a great effort.
Iris, almost 5 years, by the way, has great taste. Always wearing something spectacular - as for example her white dress that used to belong to her grandmom. Not to forget her necklace. Very understandable that Frida Viola is a little in love with her :)

Levanders Lanthandel
Just nearby our country house is Levanders Lanthandel. It has been a general store since 1864. Today it's a café and a shop, still with the original interior. We love to go there for an ice cream or to "fika" in the garden. This year's popsicle favourite is absolutely the raspberry one with the legendary Lasse Sandberg character, "Långa Farbrorn".

from around here...
1. Parasol from the flea market.
2. Remember the bib for Frida Viola...? Molly has her own now - such a beautiful gift. A friend's mother makes them.
3. Old basket - also from the flea market.
4. On the mantelpiece.
5. Patchwork ball - also a gift for Molly - perfect for little hands.
6. We have rag rugs everywhere up here - can't decide which one is my favourite.

Summer
This is how summer is to me. We are alone up here now - and it's good.
And ohh yes - Frida Viola learned to cut with her new scissors. We have little paper cuts all over.
Did you see that Mieke Verbijlen made some new apartment photos? This one is my favourite.
Astrid Lindgren's Universe
I guess you can see from the photos what we have been doing the last couple of days. I am not a person that like amusement parks (or any other events where many people are gathered for that matter) - it makes me feel uneasy and I always feel like running away the moment I have entered. But I do love the universe of Astrid Lindgren and so does Frida Viola - and since Astrid Lindgrens Värld is only 60 km from our Swedish country house we decided to try it out this year. I must admit that it was far better than feared - actually really good - and despite far too many people it was also possible to find quiet corners. What was really good was the many down to earth activities - nothing fancy and no unecessary special effects (and no junk food either!) but beautifully made settings as close to the author's intensions as possible. At the end of the day we were all exhausted and I was a little glad that it was well over - but we will go there again in a couple of years maybe.

ohh, frankie
I have been wanting a copy of frankie magazine for a long time, but you can't buy it in Denmark, so I was so happy when a friend gave me an issue. Ohh, what a perfect present! I can't say I have been reading alot in it yet - as I wrote earlier vacation with two little kids is also hard work - but I have been looking, and I love what I see. As for example Lottie Davies' beautiful photos from Syria before it's current strife, Yokoo Gibraan's fantastic "little prairie" like label Mother, Izzy Thornton's collection of vintage cards from the 1970s, Helena Randall's character sketches and the home of Italian illustrators Jenny Schenal and Graziano Farinaccio.

Together and on my own
We are still many up here, but slowly we are finding a balance - also finding time for just relaxing in each our way. I relax when I go to the flea markets or the local thrift store, when I hang up the laundry and look out over the fields, when I read stories for Frida Viola, when I see Molly smile, when I have time for cooking - and when I sit here in the kitchen, alone in the evening with the door open to the porch and with my friends sitting in the living room just beside me. I can hear them talk, but I am here on my own.
