anemone
From today's visit at the aquarium. We finally went and there was still an awful lot of people there, it must have been terrible in the opening days - but the girls liked it, they both touched a crab, the seals were so cute, and I was captivated by these beautiful sea anemones.

most cosy day of the year
With my mom and my sister's family we have a pre-christmas tradition. Each year in late November we meet from one day to another and all we do is cutting, gluing, painting, talking and eating A's freshly baked waffles. I love this weekend - and so do the kids. This year I was impressed on how focused they were. We sat around that same table for hours and they were all engaged and happy with it.

pretending it is still summer
It was like high summer again this weekend. It gave us the feeling of the neverending summer - and it was nice, although we know that very soon it will be over.
The muffins in photo 4 & 5 were good too. With rye, new Danish apples, dates and lots of cinnamon.

new hairdo
It was a fine little weekend without any plans - cooking, books, playground, ice cream.
We are still working on the bathroom, making ever so slow progress.
Hope to show you a little update soon.
work is not a job has caught my attention lately.
Hope you had a fine weekend too!

weekend photos
1. Rhubarb jam with lots of vanilla, my sister's recipe.
2. Dinner.
3.+4. The girls.
5. A really nice soapbox car we passed on our bike ride today - made out of an old pram and a chair seat. Would be nice to make something similar for the kids when we go to our Swedish house during the summer vacation.
6. Tiny tarts with summer berries and skyr.

time out
I love Copenhagen at this time of the year. The city is still relaxed and summery, the parks are full of life and nice activities for the kids. Yesterday we went to see the puppet theater in Kongens Have (King's Garden). For those of you who don't already know it, it's the cutest tiny outdoor puppet theater. The shows are free, and good for everybody regardless of age. There is no speech, only gestures and music, so even visitors from abroad will be able to follow the plays. Frida Viola was totally absorbed in it - and also a little scared when the big garbage rat entered :)
Today we went out to our local prairie again - such a wonderful place to spend a sunny day in August. Here and here from previous visits. And on our way home, we had to stop for an ice cream at Ismageriet...

Midsummer Joy
Ohh, what a wonderful weekend! We visited some friends at their lovely place for a couple of days to celebrate midsummer with them. They live in a beautiful old house near the sea. The kids have been playing, playing, playing. The grown ups have been talking, talking, talking. We had this summer's last rhurbarb crumble, fish from the sea and tiny little wild strawberries. Couldn't imagine a better way to spend a weekend.

Our Weekend
Photos from our weekend:
1. Molly flipping, flapping and fluttering. Tomorrow she is 3 months.
2. Blueberry pastry from this café.
3. Multicoloured caprifolies.
4. Summerparty in Frida Viola's kindergarden Friday - she insisted on being a blue tango cat.
This is how she looked last year.
5. Old tree I pass everyday - so beautiful at the moment.
6. Knitting outside while Molly is sleeping.
And ohh yes - Sophie from fine dage has startet a new blog on books and illustrations - looking forward to see and read more :)

What we did
Little glimpses from our weekend:
1. Tomatoes in a beautiful plate from a flea market.
2. Always a smile from Molly.
3. Baking.
4. Reading - from a beautiful old French children's book with songs.
5. Frida Viola made her own little pizza - she loves cooking (and the kitchen is a mess afterwards).
And of course we spent alot of time outside - but I always forget to bring my camera.

Summer Party & Joy
Ohh, so many things happened this weekend!
Friday was the big summer party in Frida Viola's kindergarten with performances, circus, activities and eating. She loved it.
Saturday she was alone with her dad while I had a wonderful day with two dear friends, my sister and my mom. We had a sushi lesson with a very skilled sushi chef (I never tried making sushi on my own before) and I must admit that after the lesson I am even more full of admiration for this very aesthetic craft - so delicate, filled with grace and yet so simple. I was so concentrated that I didn't even sense to take photos - but I hope that some of the others did.
Today we went to this very nice place - really recommended if you want quickly to get out of town and into open space.
I love her little overalls - found in a thrift store in Sweden.
