from grandmom's drawers
We haven't yet decorated for Christmas, but A brought down the boxes from the attic and we have been peeking a little into them. Both girls have been ill during the past week, so all my plans about starting out early this year didn't come true. Molly's stocking did get finished, though - and I love these Christmas tablecloths from my grandmom.

My Home Today
The pile of pennants for the wedding is slowly growing... We need about 150 pieces so there is still a little sewing to be done.
The little undershirt with giraffe print from my childhood - she likes wearing it but soon it will be too small.
In her room it looks as if Alfons Åberg is a little in love with Yoshitomo Nara's girl.
Michelle Carlslund - for her very nice illustrations!

Ready to fly!
Soon she will be 2 years!
We made these little paper kites together - Frida Viola did the painting and I the cutting and pasting.
Now they are ready to fly out and tell her friends about her birthday party.

My sister's place
Remember my sister's place and all her creative kids?
We went there again this weekend - to celebrate her oldest boy's 10-years birthday.
Nanna, 7 years, made the drawing with flowers.
Below Emma, 4 years, is jumping into the spring.

My sister's place
We went to my sister's place this weekend. She lives at the countryside and every time we go there I badly want to move away from the city.
But then, when we return again, Copenhagen feels just so right.
My father made the wooden rattle - so beautiful. I still don't understand how he managed to carve out the perfect ring.

Quilt
This beautiful quilt is from India. It is very old and very dirty. The colours are faded. I really like this quilt.
The story about it is that I got it some years ago from an Indian camel owner. He used it in the desert when his camel needed food: He put the camel food on it so that the camel did not get sand in it's mouth. I told him how beautiful and special this quilt was. Afterwards he offered it to me.
He was 25 years old, living in Rajastan, the proud owner of 1 camel, father to a crowd of children.
I was 25 years old, travelling around in India for half a year on my own, studying art history, and the mother of nothing.
When we found out these circumstances we could not help laughing. He kept asking me where my husband and my children were? The quilt keeps reminding me of this person, so far away from me in every way.
The little patchwork below was made by my mother when she was a teen. Also very old but still very appreciated.
Wonderful car patchwork from IJM - choose patch.
Quilt exhibition at American Folk Art Museum - a constant source of inspiration.

Where we sleep
This is where we sleep.
A's grandmother made the beautiful patchwork bedspread just before she died. It contains little pieces of fabric from all of her life. Such a fine memory.
My aunt made the little patchwork in violet for Frida Viola when she was born. The white parts are from one of my dad's old shirts. I like the idea that we sleep in memories.
