Emil Westman Hertz: Feber
I've had a busy week at the gallery with an opening Friday of Emil Westman Hertz' exhibition Feber (Fever).
Normally I don't write about my work at the gallery but I must make an exception and mention this fantastic exhibition - spectacular and special in every way. The photos are from the hanging. I love all the strange objects and fabrics that together create an universe that you cannot quite decipher.

Bunny Costume
My mother and I have been working on this little bunny costume for Frida Viola's first shrovetide celebration (fastelavn) in the kindergarten. Until now she seems satisfied with the result. I will make her a little woolen one-piece suite to go with the bonnet as well.

Nanna 6-years old
My sister has 3 kids. Her home is filled with their fantastic creations.
Nanna, the middle one, is 6 years old. She made these nice things. The painting is a portraiture of her boy friend since she was 3, Marius.
Egon Mathiesen: Fredrik med bilen
I love the fantastic books made by the Danish art historian and artist Egon Mathiesen back in the 40's and 50's. They are simple and poetic in both illustrations and texts. "Mis med de blå øjne" ("The Blue-eyed Pussy") was the first book that really captured Frida Viola - because of its strong simplicity, I guess. Egon Mathiesen's project was precisely to make art for children.
We found "Fredrik med bilen" ("Fredrik with the car") at the flea market - and it is already a favorite. It was first published in 1944 and it has been in the bookshops continuously ever since. The story is about Fredrik who travels around all of the world in his dad's yellow car - meeting all kinds of nationalities and finally realizing that we are all the same despite the colour of our skin.
There is a nice article on Egon Mathiesen with more illustrations at Danish Literary Magazine.

My sister's place
We went to my sister's place this weekend. She lives at the countryside and every time we go there I badly want to move away from the city.
But then, when we return again, Copenhagen feels just so right.
My father made the wooden rattle - so beautiful. I still don't understand how he managed to carve out the perfect ring.

Good Night
Little Chinese pyjamas - another thrift find that is piling up in our closets and might never find any use. Hopefully she will love them just as much as I.
Hanna at Manteli also found a little nice china shirt at the flea market.

Daffodils and linen tablecloth
I like this linen tablecloth that I found on this weekend's fleamarked.
And I like the infographics by Nicholas Felton - he makes statistics on almost everything, from conversations with friends to all of his father's life. Very beautiful.

You can't get this everywhere
Her future vintage wardrobe is growing. I just hope that she will be wearing all these fine little pieces that I can't help to collect. The sweater is a second hand find and the two little quilted waistcoats were mine, made by mom.

Botanical Gardens at Winter
I know it sounds strange but we went to Botanical Gardens today.
It was cold, quiet and empty. There was this special beauty of decay and desertion that only belongs to winter. Despite the ongoing winter ambience, little signs of spring were peeping through the forest floor.
Sunday Morning Joy
I love the quiet Sunday mornings where everybody else in the house is still asleep. I love the morning light, her untidy morning hair and the moment where we have to decide what the day will bring.
She loves yoghurt with banana and muesli.

Pre-spring feeling
We are longing for springtime: Trying yellow sandals, bying flowers, searching for light and eating of plates withs flower print.
Nice serigraphic works at bønne & uglen.

Ceramic Ladies
I couldn't resist the expression of these two little ladies in the local thrift store.
They remind me about the characters from Finn Pape's universe.
Right now both she and I are very satisfied with these little baggy pants from lili and the funky boys.
The Makers by Jennifer Causey found via Lena Corwin.

Finn Pape: Puslinge Bogen
Finn Pape made this little book, Puslinge Bogen, in 1949.
There are so many nice patterns in the illustrations.
These are just a few of them.
