last day of September
We have spent all day just around the house. It has been sunny and beautiful, a real September day, the last one. There are so many apples on the trees this year - last year there were hardly any. And the wild boars have been all over! The lawn looks like a battlefield. The old lady who lived in the nearest neighbour house all of her life has passed away. She was the last inhabitant in this tiny community - and the last member of the local congregation. Our house was left in the 60's, and so was most of the houses in the area. It must have been so lonely to live here all alone.

a girl with her own sleeping bag
We arrived here late last night. Both girls were asleep and didn't even get into their pyjamas. I know it's a little hard for them with this long and late drive, but we prefer it this way instead of spending a whole day on transport. And they were happy this morning when they woke up, rediscovering the place again. The photo below is Frida Viola in the morning light, still wearing the dress that she wore in kindergarten yesterday.
Top photo is Frida Viola and her new sleeping bag from today's visit at the local thrift store - she chose it herself and she feels very big... a girl with her own sleeping bag, as she puts it!

my home today
1. Frida Viola's chestnut weaving - with a little help she manages to weave on the yarn herself. We have gathered a big bag of chestnuts - good for rainy afternoons.
2-4. Molly is really her own. She doesn't look like any of us, and she does things on her own we didn't learn her. She is already so good at crawling and now she wants to stand up all the time - wonder how it went so fast...? She only just turned 6 months.
5. Essie favourites at the moment.
6. Little knitting book from A's mom - with wonderful (and complicated!) knits for dolls.

pieced together
Nice "puzzle" from the thrift store the other day. I have never seen this kind of "puzzle" before, and I don't know what to call it: you click the pieces together to create the little stories/processes. The original box is gone, but the backside of the pieces says "Plato - made in W-Germany" - maybe some of you know this kind of toy...?

Wovenplay
I guess you are all familiar with Wovenplay and their fantastic universe. I like to browse through their website that has so many beautiful photos and inspiring pages - as this one on Wovenplay's concept or this one on their inspiration. I really love their use of old techniques and costumes brought up to date with natural fabrics and handmade items. Wovenplay makes clothes that make me wish, I was still a little girl - and I don't doubt for a second that Frida Viola would blend straight into their universe and the stories told through the clothes.

Inger & Lasse Sandberg: Lilla Anna
I have mentioned Inger and Lasse Sandberg and their wonderful children's books so many times on the blog (here - here - here and here) - so I thought I would show this new little book about little Anna. I was so happy to find it in a local children's shop - and to find out that Alvilda recently has published 6 new little books on little Anna. The books and the stories are so fine and sweet and cost only 30 DKK. The stories are very simple, written for the very youngest kids - and Frida Viola is actually to big for them (she is almost 3 ½ now) but they will be perfect as the first books for Molly. In my opinion Lasse Sandberg's illustrations are irresistible - they always make me so happy.

Nanna Ditzel - Lulu Cradle
If I should ever have a baby more I would dream of this beautiful cradle...
Lulu Cradle is designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1964 and has been used for her own children and grandchildren.
It is now re-launched in beechwood and will be available in a limited edition at Design Klassiker.
Nanna Ditzel is one of my absolute favourite designers. When Frida Viola was beginning to sit on her own we were lucky enough to find one of Ditzel's children's highchairs, originally designed in 1955 and completely unused. I love the soft and rounded shapes of the chair, and it has been a daily joy to use and see it. Frida Viola is still sitting in it - but soon we will have to find a new solution for her because little Molly needs the chair now.
First 3 photos from here, last photo from here.
rooftop
Some of our friends have moved to a wonderful new apartment with the most fantastic rooftop. We went there today to visit them and the sky over Copenhagen was so beautiful. The rooftop has a little grass slope, a playing area and cosy terraces - what a perfect outdoor appendix when you live in an apartment.

apple pie
My mom and I made this very good and simple apple pie last weekend:
2 dl wholegrain spelt flour
2 dl wholegrain wheat flour
3/4 dl cane sugar
100 g almonds - finely chopped or grounded into flour
100 g butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
½-1 tbsp cold water
6 apples
cinnamon and cane sugar
Mix all ingredients for the dough and let it rest in a cool place while you prepare the apples. pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes at 225 degrees Celsius. Put on the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and a little sugar. Bake for 15 minutes at 225 degrees Celsius. Serve while warm with skyr.

Coral & Tusk
Coral & Tusk is new to me - and as you see I really had a hard time choosing among their beautiful items and photos. All is embroidered on materials as felt and linen, and the motifs are strange, mythical, fairytalelike and imaginative. The embroideries make me think of the bayeux tapestry, of native american symbols, of old animal fables and of Devendra Banhart's music and illustrations.
All photos from Coral & Tusk.
