Paper Cuts

I know it's a little late but I just discovered these very delicate paper cuts by Sonia Brandes.

I  must buy some for next year.

Little hints of light

Today: Almost the last day of the year.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

We are preparing - making little nice things for the tree, baking and talking a lot about the Christmas tree.
Our plan was to go outside Copenhagen to find the tree but it was impossible to start the car in the cold.
Instead we found one nearby - A had to carry it home.

Morning & Evening

Copenhagen is covered by snow again.

On my daily bicycle ride to and back from work - crisp and clear.

Her room

A's grandmother made the embroidered family tree for him ages ago. It's in Frida Viola's room now - together with the wallpaper we found at a fleamarket in Sweden.

A says it looks like an old lady's livingroom.
What do you think?

(By the way: A's grandmother's name was also Frida Viola - I like the idea of some of her stuff in little Frida Viola's room)

Aurore Callias

I bought this childrens book with wonderful illustrations by Aurore Callias in France.

I gave it for Frida Viola today in her christmas stocking. She is my alibi for bying fine childrens books that I want myself.

Little delights

Finally I am not ill any longer.

This is what happened during weekend:
Visit from wonderful friends + lot's of fine little christmas projects + the snow suddenly dissapeared

Picture #1: My mom made the delicious pickles and jam: plum and raspberries/currant
Picture #2: I haven't made these cookies since I was 12 - now I tried again and they taste so good with lot's of ginger, cinnamon and cardamom
Picture #3: I bought the book about fantastic caravans in France. Maybe a springtime project as an appendix to our farmhouse in Sweden...?
More about the book My Cool Caravan and lots of super fine caravans here.

Côte d'Azur #4 - a l'interieur

Where we stayed - a beautiful old house from the 18th century.

Côte d'Azur #3 - Villefranche sur Mer

This is Villefranche sur Mer.
I like the pale pastel colours of the houses and the shutters.

Helena Rohner for Kähler

I love Helena Rohner's interpretation of the traditional locket.

These are USB keys made in ceramics in delicate colours.
You can carry photos of loved ones and other little secrets with you all time.

Buy it here or here.

Côte d'Azur #2 - Nice

I keep returning to the photos from France.
Maybe because it's so cold and dark here.
These ones are all from Nice.

December Bricolage

We are sick all three of us.
And this weekend was the annual "juleklippeweekend" (don't know what this is called in English - but the weekend where we make lots of fine christmas stuff in paper!). I didn't have much energy but I did finish the angel with the white and blue harlequin dress.
My dad made the white angel lots of years ago when he was a boy. He made such fine things with his hands.
I really love this angel!

The light has been so beautiful today.
I have not been outside the house for three days now.

December 1

I made this christmas stocking for Frida Viola last year.
She didn't really understand it then. This year it will be true love.

Right now snow flakes are dancing in the light of the street light.

Good night.
