inside the dollhouse

last summer we found a beautiful hand crafted doll cabinet at a roadside flea in Sweden. Frida Viola wanted it badly, but we didn't buy it for her. Later the same afternoon we regretted and returned to the flea. I was reading for the girls in the car, and somehow A succeded in picking up the rather big doll cabinet and managed to get it into the car without Frida Viola ever noticed it. Hence we had the perfect Christmas gift for her, we just added some new paint and wallpaper.

I love the way she creates her own rules in this miniature world - the doll kids have cake in the sofa and watch tv all day long.

Childish

I love that once you have a child it suddenly is very ok to be a little childish and fill your home with strange little things.

I have been working all day - reading and writing on an article that troubles me - I guess that's why my urge to be a little childish has intensified.
I found great inspiration in this article on fantastic Mamma Andersson and Jockum Nordström.
Wish I could go and see Mamma Andersson's exhibition here - her first solo exhibition at an American art museum.

Hedgehog

New thrift store find for Frida Viola's room: The ceramic hedgehog plaque. Very nice colours.

My aunt made the crohet mobile for me when I was little - so sweet.

Baby Blues

Some blues from her room.

My mother made the hand printed teddy bear linens back in the 70s - with potato print, I think ;-)
The two other linens are also from my childhood.

Her room

A's grandmother made the embroidered family tree for him ages ago. It's in Frida Viola's room now - together with the wallpaper we found at a fleamarket in Sweden.

A says it looks like an old lady's livingroom.
What do you think?

(By the way: A's grandmother's name was also Frida Viola - I like the idea of some of her stuff in little Frida Viola's room)
