I am still working on Molly's Christmas stocking. I know what to do rest of the evening.
Have a nice Friday evening all of you!

a space to forget time and place

Amazing space via Freunde von Freunden - and the woman who lives there, Gisèle d'Ailly van Waterschoot van der Gracht, must be quite a personality. See all photos from her huge apartment here.

I ♥ SISTERBRANDT

Sweet sweet Sabine from Sisterbrandt has treated me again. This time with an Arabia Pomona jar with strawberries, that has been on my wishlist for so long! It goes so good with the rest of my little collection (and is the prettiest one, in my opinion!) Sabine remembered that I had posted about the jars - and when she found one at a flea market, she held that in mind. How thoughtful is that...

Molly and I went to Sisterbrandt's studio to pick the jar up the other day - and I really had a hard time leaving again, because everywhere my eyes fell they were captured by something colourful, beautiful, handmade, vintage, special... I could have stayed for hours just sneaking around looking, had it not been too inappropriate since the ladies at the studio had a busy working day.

She really is a lady with a good eye, this Sabine.

Photos below are Sabine's from the studio.

Ann Louise Andersen - No Other Way

Go and see this exhibition! She is so good!

Just before Molly was born I wrote a text about Ann Louise Andersen's work - you can read it here.

Have a nice Friday evening.

Bertalan & Barnabás

I really love this Hungarian book by Éva Janikovszky from 1969 that I found in the thrift store some while ago. The illustrations are so fine, fine, fine with the mix of water colour, thin black pen and beautiful, neat patterns. We don't read Hungarian, of course, but we do read the book anyway, just guessing us to the story and finding new little details everytime we "read" in it.

Here is another nice book in Hungarian.

Update: Saskia from fine fine books has pointed out that the illustrator is László Réber. At first I wasn't sure who made the beautiful ilustrations, because I couldn't read the Hungarian colophon - so thanks Saskia :)

8 months

Molly is 8 months. She stands up alone without support, and she pushes chairs and stools around in the appartment with her tiny steps. She's so proud and happy for all her new abilities.

Did you see 3191's new collections? Simple and beautiful. I love MAV's collection of smocks.

Sunday

The light was beautiful when we passed the canal on our way home from the playground this afternoon. Few minutes later it was dark. We didn't have any plans this weekend and just stayed home the 4 of us, doing small projects. I finally started sewing Molly's christmas stocking. I wanted to do something similar to Frida Viola's. And we did a lot of cooking. This apricot compote is delicious and very simple. Soak two handfuls of dried apricots in water over night. Boil the apricots in the water with a teaspoon of vanilla until they are very soft and blend them. It tastes heavenly as Frida Viola put it. I made it for Molly but we all like it.

Good Sunday all of you!

November

November is passing so quickly this year. We are half way through it now. There are no leaves at the threes any longer but look at those purple berries - they looked so beautiful when I passed them, never seen this kind before.

I have started thinking alot about Christmas - no, not Christmas, really, but the calendar gifts. 48 little gifts.
Stopped at Crème de la Crème à la Edgar's pop up shop today. They have some really nice things.

almond butter

Presoak two handfuls of almonds in water a day. Blanch the almonds and blend them into a soft and creamy butter. You'll need a good blender and a little patience. The butter is sweet without being sugary like marzipan. It's perfect on bread for little baby beginner eaters, in porridge or as a little dessert with lots of blueberries. Could be used in bread and cakes, maybe, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thorvaldsens Museum

We went to see this exhibition yesterday - an exhibition with beautifully made joinery displayed in one of the most fantastic (and even the oldest) museums in Copenhagen. The furnitures looked great placed against Thorvaldsen's huge and classic statues and in the large spaces. We didn't bring Frida Viola to Thorvaldsens Museum before, but she went through all the rooms with her neck bent backwards, gazing up into the fantastic painted ceilings.

Just to make a little recommandation, with or without kids.
