dolls

Frida Viola loves to play with her dolls at the moment. Her collection has grown quite nice - gifts, hand overs, thrift store finds. And the wardrobe, not to forget, is really impressive and enviable. The dolls have several beautiful handsewn dresses each of them - made with so many fine details and in beautiful fabrics.

Some of the dresses used to belong to my dolls when I was little, made by my grandmom, others are flea finds. I always make sure to look for new items when I visit thrift stores. The cradle below is our latest find. We found it together last Saturday in the local thrift store. My mom had one similar when she was little, and Frida Viola plays with it when we visit her. I have always been in love with this type of cradle.

  1. How I would love to come thriftiness with you in Copenhagen! Are there still many thrift stores with vintage items to be found? I live to see your finds, Elizabeth.

    1. Elizabeth, you will be welcome any time :) We do have many thrift stores in Copenhagen like Red Cross and Salvation Army but you have to look carefully to find the good stuff. We have many really nice little vintage shops too where prices of course are a little higher. I prefer the thrift stores because I love to find the treasures myself :) How about in UK - do you have many good thrift stores...? (and I know all about that pesky autocorrect in iPhone!)

    2. Hi Inger Marie, it seems that thrifting is similar in Copenhagen to the UK where we have many charity shops. As you say though one has to "dig" to find the good stuff! However, I live in France where charity shops are rare :-( but throughout the summer are many, many "vide greniers" (empty attics) which take place from huge cities to tiny villages. That is where to find the great vintage items! Roll on summer! Elizabeth
